Science Festival 2024

Institut Photonique took part in the 2024 edition of the major event that is the Fête de la Science. This free-for-all yearly event is an opportunity to raise awareness on science and its challenges among attendees, to encourage the exchange of knowledge between researchers and citizens, to support the work of the scientific community and to raise new vocations among younger people.

In Strasbourg, ICube, one of the Institut Photonique laboratories, was at the Science Village at the Palais Universitaire. In 3 days, from the 4^th to the 6^th of October, over 920 higher education students and 1,700 attendees of all ages had the opportunity of being introduced to the principles and applications of photonics during a group activity named: “Plongez dans le Monde Fascinant de la Photonique ! Révélons le Visible et l’Invisible !” (Dive into the fascinating world of photonics! Let’s reveal the visible and the invisible!) divided into four themes: light and energy, light and digital technology, light and vision, light and communication.

On the CentraleSupélec campus in Metz, visits were organised for about 300 middle and high school students from the urban area of Metz. This introduction to photonics enabled them to discover a researcher’s journey and to understand the principles of an invisible screen, sound transmission or signal processing.
