Rendez-vous with photonics

Many were there to honour the first rendez-vous with photonics organised by Institut Photonique on the 27th of November at the University of Technology of Troyes.

To begin with, the Institut Photonique team explained in detail its strategic plan which aims to develop training courses, cooperations, the diffusion of knowledge and innovation.

During the two first round-tables, industrial and academic experts discussed the applications of photonics in the fields of sensors and imaging with applications in health, materials, energy and defence. The LMOPS, ICube, CRAN, IJL, L2n (Light, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies) laboratories in the Grand Est region; the companies GDI Simulation, Holo3, and Poladerme; and the public institution ONERA were for instance represented.

A round-table discussion dedicated to innovation and presented by SATT Sayens unveiled several company projects carried out based on research results acquired by the laboratories of the academic partners of Institut Photonique. Cristal Laser was the one company of reference for this part on innovation.
Finally, a last round-table discussion focused on support solutions for technology transfer.

Around a hundred attendees (researchers, professors, students, industrialists, academic societies) ensured the success of the event. A day of exchanges giving rise to many ideas to be put into practice for the impact and future of photonics with the launching of “Institut Photonique Student Chapter”, the largest photonics students network in France, gathering students and graduates in photonics in the Grand Est region and Luxembourg and supported by the international societies for photonics SPIE and OPTICA.
