Institut Photonique at Photonics West 2025

As a PhD student at CentraleSupélec, Sebastian Alveteg presented his research work at the SPIE event Photonics West which was held in San Francisco from the January 28^th to 30^th.

Sebastian’s works focus on exploring the possibilities of using a photorefractive crystal for performing reservoir computing.

In the process he investigates how the nonlinear photorefractive property of the crystal impacts the machine learning capabilities. The work shows clear correlation between the strength of the nonlinear index modulation and the performance of the reservoir and should provide a good foundation for further research in the topic or neighboring ones that also want to take advantage of the photorefractive effect for computation tasks.
