Institut Photonique and Grand Est Développement are organising an event dedicated to European funding for photonics

Institut Photonique

This ambitious project is the fruit of a joint effort from public and private actors of the Grand Est region and Luxembourg. It aims at becoming a reference in Europe in terms of photonics and exploring the various practical applications of light in different sectors, ranging from health to energy.

A consortium of partners

Institut Photonique relies on a network of academic and industrial partners, each one of them contributing with their own expertise. This synergy between public and private actors makes it possible to cover the entire fundamental research, practical applications as well as innovation and education in the field of photonics.

Open days at University of Strasbourg

On the 1^st of March, the ICube laboratory and Institut Photonique took part in the open days organised by University of Strasbourg with a booth at the Télécom Physique Strasbourg (TPS) school of engineering in order to promote academic programmes in the field of photonics. Attendees had the opportunity to discover the specialisation courses provided by TPS such as “Physics” which offers an option in photonics.

Mr. Mustapha Remouche, business and scientific mediation manager at ICube, presented a stand to promote photonic and light sciences, explaining photonics and its range of applications through interactive experiments.

Four main themes of the science of light were touched on, along with experiments and explanatory mediums:

Light and energy – Solar energy
Light and digital technology – Screens and polarisation of light
Light and vision – Additive and substractive colour synthesis
Light and communication – Transmission by optical fibers

Created on the initiative of the CentraleSupélec’s Chair in Photonics, Institut Photonique aims to promote training and scientific research based on cutting-edge knowledge in the field of light and optical technologies.

Gathering public and private actors from the Grand Est region and Luxembourg around the School campus in Metz, the institute dedicates itself to the region’s excellence in terms of higher education and research.
